[masterpost] a rache for all seasons

For my sanity, as well as yours.

Original Rache - [personal profile] tohearthesound, see also A Better Way to Fall, the Holmes Big Bang story that started it all

girl!Rache - [personal profile] stillnotrachel, same backstory as [personal profile] tohearthesound right up to the end of the Sitri plot where "a confluence of magical energies" had unexpected side-effects and made Rache female

Tempest Rache #1 (aka Darkest Timeline Rache, darkest!Rache) - A [personal profile] stillnotrachel who met Ariel ([personal profile] inaclovenpine) and was sympathetic to her situation. She tried to free Ariel from Prospero and failed, ended up bound right alongside her. When Prospero left the island, he freed Ariel per their bargain, but he had no bargain with Rache. She remained his slave for more than a decade, as he continued his magical studies and his power and paranoia grew. Rache ultimately broke free, killed Prospero, and burned down the ducal palace of Milan. Phenomenal cosmic powers, phenomenal emotional problems.

Tempest Rache #2 (aka Less Dark Timeline) - A Rache who was always female and never knew a Matthew Jamison. Same sequence of events with regard to Ariel + Prospero. Phenomenal cosmic powers, considerably fewer emotional problems.

Panem Rache - A muttation that looks like a girl, originally made by Head Gamemaker Prospero for the Arena. Only one of the three original experiments to survive. Her place in his household is covered up with her as Miranda's Avox. (They cut out her tongue as part of the cover, but it grew back.) Rache questions Prospero's authority when he orders her to kill Ferdinand (who has been working with the rebellion) while Miranda watches. After she eventually complies, Prospero installs a control chip in her head to keep her from disobeying again. (Did creepy sex things ever happen with Prospero before or after the control chip? Maaaaaaaybe.) Rache cracks her head open on the bathroom counter to dig it out. She and Miranda plot Prospero's murder and the cover-up. Miranda becomes established in Capitol society and positioned as President Antonio's heir apparent. Rache is seen as a mix of pet, fashion accessory, and secretary. Miranda and Rache are secretly working with the rebellion to bring down the system from within.

Macbeth Rache - Darkest!Rache crashlands on the Scottish heath and is initially mistaken for Hecate by the three witches. Even after she comes clean, the witches keep letting her hang with them while she finds her bearings.

Night Court Rache #1 (aka Rachelle no Heliotrope) - Native D'Angeline, cheerful and loving, playful, a little sarcastic. Check her out here and here.

Night Court Rache #2 (aka Rachelle no Mandrake) - Tiny orphan child Rachelle was adopted by Lord Prospero of Millazza in Caerdicca Unitas, as a companion for his young daughter Miranda. Since the girls were raised together, Rachelle had access to a fine education and grew up fluent in both Caerdicci and D'Angeline. At some point, Prospero shares with her records from the orphanage that discuss her mother, who died in childbirth; her last word was "rache," which the attendants turned into "Rachelle." Rachelle has studied enough Skaldi to know that it means "revenge," but there's no indication of who the revenge should be against or for. Her mother gave Rachelle her red hair and fair skin, so her height and her hazel eyes must have come from her father, whoever he was. At around age 14, Rachelle found Prospero's eyes on her more often than not and in a way that disquieted her. (Rachelle was worried his interest was sexual. In fact, he'd been doing a lot of research into magic and occult sciences, and was considering her for a test subject.) She ends up running away, gradually making her way all the way to Terre D'Ange and the Night Court. After landing literally on the steps of House Mandrake, the elderly Dowayne asked her what she wanted and she said "I want to not be afraid anymore." She gets brought into the fold and stays within the House after she makes her marque. She specializes in rope work and sensation play; she also likes her flogger. She has used flechettes a few times, but only minimally.
