They still do not know why it happened.
Confluence of multiple competing magical systems, is the current popular theory. These things have side effects. (Why this particular side effect is unclear.)
Still, the demon is gone--well and truly gone--and Rache has no real complaints.
Today, she's dressed in a long flowing skirt and one of her old shirts that no longer fits very well through the shoulders. She has a couch to herself, long legs stretched out across the cushions as she reads. She could, if asked, be persuaded to surrender some of the couch.
