[night court au] drink and draw

Rachelle adores her House. Accidental her arrival may have been, but it is every bit the home she wanted; she has her eye on being Dowayne someday.

That being said, sometimes it is a delight to slip away somewhere where no one can find her. It's like being young in Millazza again, free of responsibility.

The bar has thoughtfully provided a chaise by the fire for her. A waitrat brought the glass of wine. The sketchbook and pencils are Rachelle's from home.

Depending on when you arrive, the page she's working on will contain one of the following:

- a series of portraits. At first glance, they might be mistaken for self-portraits, but each one has something subtly but distinctly different from Rachelle's own features. The sketches are quick, but not hurried; a warm-up exercise, perhaps.

or

- a series of figure drawings. The details are minimal, but they are obviously nudes--featureless men and women in dynamic poses, bound with rope. Body harnesses, full arm cuffs, and one particularly delicate form in suspension.

[night court au] company come to call

It's early afternoon in the Night Court.

Rachelle no Mandrake has been awake for several hours: taking breakfast in the Adept's dining room and catching up on gossip, answering correspondence and scheduling assignations.

The Dowayne has asked her to provide a demonstration for some of the younger initiates before dinner tonight; she's mulling over potential forms while a Novice arranges her hair.

[something wicked au] the edge of birnam wood

The witches have been visited by Hecate.

The real one, they claim; she has told them to prepare for this king, this Macbeth, who will come to seek his fortune. They are building bloody visions--trees, they have said, and a child--to inflame his purpose.

It will all end in death. It always does.

Rache's help being neither requested nor required, she has left the cavern behind her. She hasn't explored this land much since her arrival. She supposes it's overdue.

(Despite the fact that her robe hangs long and drags against the ground, the hem never catches on any roots or rocks.)

for Sherlocks

The library remains a location non grata for Rache. On the other hand, Bar is rather skilled at book recommendations and the couches down here are every bit as comfortable.

Tonight, she has a copy of Persuasion and a mug of (lightly spiked) apple cider. Based on the way she pauses every few chapters to take a drink and watch the crowd, she might not be adverse to company.

(no subject)

They still do not know why it happened.

Confluence of multiple competing magical systems, is the current popular theory. These things have side effects. (Why this particular side effect is unclear.)

Still, the demon is gone--well and truly gone--and Rache has no real complaints.

Today, she's dressed in a long flowing skirt and one of her old shirts that no longer fits very well through the shoulders. She has a couch to herself, long legs stretched out across the cushions as she reads. She could, if asked, be persuaded to surrender some of the couch.
